It was quite wonderful to see how Janhvi Kapoor recently exemplified the appeal of summer blacks for a 2025 wardrobe. I truly enjoyed observing this off-duty look from the Cannes Film Festival. It appears the Homebound actor chose a Yves Saint Laurent halter dress in jet black, which was paired thoughtfully with Miu Miu racer shades.

I understand Rhea Kapoor styled the look. It seems the accessories were chosen with care, limited to Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas earrings and a mini black Hermès Kelly with gold accents. It was also good to see the ensemble completed with peep-toe platform Christian Louboutin heels, which helped maintain an overall simple and elegant impression. Her makeup, too, was reportedly kept to a minimal soft glam, with light blush and lipstick which I thought contributed nicely to a sunkissed summer effect.

I found it particularly interesting to learn that the piece is from the YSL archives, specifically from the Rive Gauche 1975 ready-to-wear collection. One could note a long scarf that wraps around her neck and trails to the ground behind her, lending an air of retro glamour. It’s my understanding that halternecks, especially when paired with thin belts, were indeed a staple of 1970s YSL couture.

It was a pleasure to see such a well-put-together look.
